Chronic illness & doctor prep

How coaching fits alongside your specialists, what we work on between appointments, and what to do when the visit isn't moving forward.

How does chronic illness coaching work?
Every engagement starts with a free consultation — a 30-minute conversation where we map out what you're navigating. From there, most clients work with us through ongoing coaching: 1:1 sessions grounded in a Doctorate in Coaching and pastoral care through Lion and the King Ministry. We work on the things that fall between specialist visits — pacing, medication decisions, the language you'll use in the 12-minute visits, and the days your body won't move. What happens between doctor appointments?
Most of chronic illness actually lives in the days and weeks between specialist visits — the energy you have for pacing, the medication logs, the symptom patterns worth flagging. Coaching between appointments turns the specialist's plan into a daily practice you can sustain, and walks you into the next visit prepared rather than exhausted. What if my doctor keeps saying it's stress?
If lab work keeps coming back "normal" while your symptoms keep coming back, the work shifts toward advocacy. We help you bring the right materials to the 12-minute visit, ask the right questions, and use the language that moves a dismissive visit forward — including the templates for the moments when "it's stress" comes up again. Faith & coaching

How pastoral care fits inside coaching, whether faith and chronic illness can coexist, and where work disclosure enters the picture.

Can faith and chronic illness coexist?
Yes — and for most of the people in this work, they have to. The faith & perseverance pillar at LKM treats pastoral care as the framework that keeps you moving on the days your body won't move for you, not as decoration layered on top of the hard stuff. Pastoral care through Lion and the King Ministry is woven into every engagement that wants it. Read the faith & perseverance pillar →
Is coaching at LKM the same as pastoral counseling?
Coaching is forward-looking and goal-shaped — what you're moving toward and what's in the way. Pastoral counseling tends to be more reflection-centered and ongoing as care. LKM blends both: the founder holds a Doctorate in Coaching alongside pastoral care credentials through Lion and the King Ministry, so engagements can lean either way depending on what you need. How do you decide what to disclose at work with an invisible illness?
Disclosure isn't a values question alone — it's also a pacing question. What to share, when to share it, and how to protect the energy you don't usually have on a Tuesday morning. We wrote a Christian's guide that works through disclosure and pacing together — practical for chronically ill patients, not theoretical. Read: a Christian's guide to disclosure and pacing →
What do I do when two specialists give me two different diagnoses?
Holding two conflicting diagnoses without collapsing into either one is one of the harder pastoral and practical moments in chronic illness. This guide walks through the faith-anchored framework — prayer, community, the body-as-temple theology, and the operating posture of holding two answers in tension — alongside the three-column comparison page and the second-opinion script that help you decide what to do next when specialists disagree. How do I keep caring for others when I'm chronically ill myself?
Caregiver fatigue hits different when you're also the patient — the load doesn't pause for your flare days, and the guilt of needing to step back can quietly become a faith crisis. We wrote a guide that pairs the operational moves (a weekly energy-vs-obligation grid, a delegation matrix, a scope downshift for ministry seasons) with the biblical framework for limits as wisdom, not failure — Galatians 6:2 alongside Galatians 6:5, the body-as-temple theology for the season when the temple needs rest, and the prayer language for "I cannot" without collapsing into shame. Do I have to be a Christian to work with LKM?
No. Pastoral care through Lion and the King Ministry is part of LKM's foundation — the coaching engagements can lean on it where it fits — but the chronic-illness coaching itself is open to anyone navigating the work between appointments. See coaching engagements →
